GARDNERVILLE — Authorities have released the name of a motorcycle rider killed Sunday evening in an accident near Gardnerville.

Timothy McArdle, 49, of Stateline, Nev., was thrown from his motorcycle around 7 p.m. when he hit a pickup truck on U.S. 395 near Palomino Lane in Douglas County. The investigation revealed that a silver 2002 GMC Sonoma pickup, driven by 59-year-old Dennis J. Gingrich of Gardnerville, was traveling south and was attempting to turn east onto Palomino Lane. Traveling north on U.S. 395 approaching the intersection was a black 2008 Simms custom motorcycle driven by McArdle.

Gingrich failed to yield to the motorcycle and proceeded to make the turn onto Palomino Lane. The pickup struck the left side of the motorcycle causing McArdle to be thrown from his bike. He was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno by helicopter and died a few hours later. Gingrich was not injured and alcohol is not suspected to be a contributing factor.

Anyone with information about this accident is encouraged to call 689-4623 regarding case No. NHP-1010100982.
