RENO — Weather officials said a heat wave pushed temperatures to record highs for the date in several northern Nevada cities.

Cities experiencing record temperatures included Reno, Tonopah, Eureka, Ely and Elko.

The National Weather Service says Reno saw an all-time high for the date on Monday, at 94 degrees.

Highs temperatures of 91 degrees in Tonopah and Elko and 90 in Eureka and Ely also were record-breakers.

The previous high for a Sept. 27 in Reno was 93 degrees last year.

Weather service technician Jessica Kielhorn said the same high pressure system gave Los Angeles 113 degrees temperatures on Monday.
