RENO — On Wednesday at about 11 p.m. Reno Police officers met with a 13-year-old female victim of a sexual assault. The victim told officers that her stepfather had sexually assaulted her at her residence earlier in the evening.

Detectives assigned to the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit responded and upon further investigation arrested Thomas McNamara, a 41-year-old Reno resident, for two counts of sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age.

McNamara is a target of the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program (ROP) and has a criminal history that includes several felony arrests and four felony convictions. His conviction history includes embezzlement, strong arm robbery with an elderly enhancement, possession of stolen property and fraudulent use of a credit card.

McNamara’s cash-only bail was raised to $50,000.
