RENO — Charles Griffin, 35, of Reno, was arrested Tuesday evening after a day-long standoff with police.

On Tuesday morning, Reno police officers went to 1465 E. Peckham Lane, apartment No. 78 in an attempt to arrest Griffin on misdemeanor battery and disturbing the peace warrants.  Griffin had allegedly beaten an acquaintance on Monday and since officers could not locate him at the time, they applied for the arrest warrant.

While attempting to serve the warrant, Griffin threatened officers and stated that he would not be compliant. A team of Reno police negotiators also tried to gain Griffin’s voluntary compliance and after negotiations failed, the SWAT team was activated.

At about 8:30 p.m., the SWAT team inserted nonlethal gas into Griffin’s residence and he exited shortly thereafter. He was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Jail.
