RENO — The local Americorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) project, sponsored by United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra and the Washoe County School District, is hosting the first annual Family Fun Fair today, to take place inside Hug High School’s cafeteria.

The goal of this event is to encourage interaction within families with children 5 years old and younger in order to support development and be better prepared to succeed in school. The free event will include games, resources for families with young children and a free raffle with prizes from exhibitors.

Exhibitors at the event include the Washoe County Library System, Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, The Children’s Cabinet, Nevada Hispanic Services, CSA Head Start, Boys & Girls Club, the United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra, the Washoe County School District’s Department of Child and Family Services and more. These organizations will be providing activities in which the families can participate both during the event and at home. The Washoe County Library System will be able to sign up attendees for library cards as well.
