INCLINE VILLAGE — For the second time, performers at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival will join U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in celebrating new U.S. citizenship with 16 young people on Thursday.

“We strive to make our ceremonies memorable and fun for children and their parents,” said USCIS field office director Monica Toro. “The Shakespeare program is a fine example of the educational and cultural opportunities available for young Americans and so a fitting partner for this event.”

The young citizens will have front row seats at Thursday’s 10 a.m. performance of “The Tempest” in the outdoor amphitheater overlooking Lake Tahoe. The free matinee performance will be followed immediately by the citizenship ceremony during which families attending the play will have a rare opportunity to witness the swearing-in as U.S. citizens of 16 young people from nine countries.

The event will take place on the Warren Edward Trepp Stage at Sand Harbor State Park, 948 Incline Way.
