Steve Hull, chief public affairs officer for the district, said at least two students provided information to the district at the end of the school year saying they had inappropriate contact with Kevin Poindexter, a probationary employee and a Sparks resident.
“We immediately began an investigation as we’re always very concerned about those situations,” Hull said. “The administration found that some policies had been violated.”
The families of both students were contacted, Hull said.
One student was 17 and the other was 18.
“For the administration, (age of consent) really doesn’t matter to us,” Hull said. “Any kind of conduct like that with our students is unacceptable.”
Poindexter has been ordered not to approach the 17-year-old or Reed High School property.
The case has been turned over to the Washoe County District Attorney’s office for further investigation.
