RENO — Dr. Linda Ferris, Renown Health’s vice president of cancer services, was elected to the national board of directors for the Association of Cancer Executives (ACE). In her role, she will assist the national organization to promote the advancement of its members’ professional standing and personal achievement through continuing education in oncology management, research, strategic planning and program development.

ACE is a 16-year-old cancer administrator networking organization with more than 350 members in 44 states.

Renown Health hired Ferris in July 2007. Since then, she has led cancer care operations and oncology service development throughout the health care network. Specifically, she is responsible for directing the operations, finance, business development and planning of the Renown Institute for Cancer, the area’s only hospital conducting clinical trials with the National Cancer Institute.

Within her first two years at Renown, Ferris’ initiative helped bring two da Vinci S HD Robotic Surgical Systems and the new TomoTherapy Hi-Art System to Reno. The two advanced technologies are helping treat patients with less pain, shorter treatments and quicker recovery times. Ferris has also helped establish Renown Health as a destination for cancer treatment and a center for excellence that cancer centers throughout the West are modeling.
