Members of the public are invited to participate both days, but they will need to provide their own transportation and lunch on the field trip.
Topics of RAC discussion will include: district manager’s reports on current program of work, draft Winnemucca RMP/EIS, Ruby Pipeline, an update on the BLM-Nevada wild horse and burro gathers, ARRA stimulus projects implementation, Black Rock NCA Wilderness Plan, cheatgrass die-off implications and additional topics.
The public may present general written or oral comments to the RAC in Winnemucca at 4 p.m. today. An agenda is posted at www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/res/resource_advisory/sierra_front-northwestern.html.
Literature helps singles connect
RENO — On Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., Grassroots Books is hosting its first book exchange designed to help independent adults connect in a novel way. If you can’t judge a book by its cover, can you tell the match by the book? Bring a book that represents you (or your favorite book) and discuss your book with others. When you connect with someone, swap your books, meet new friends and take home a new book.
“Working at Grassroots, you begin to notice trends in customers and their tastes,” said Louise Brock, events coordinator at Grassroots Books. “From our perspective, it seems like people with similar literary tastes may have even more in common with each other than their reading. We’re trying to provide a new opportunity for independent adults to meet and connect in a comfortable, yet thoughtful setting.”
This adult book exchange and social mixer is for people age 21 and older. Drinks and refreshments will be provided. Free admission and a free book will be given to all participants (limit one per person per year from any promotion). Casual attire is recommended. RSVP by e-mail to bookexchange@grassrootsbooks.com. Grassroots Books is located at 660 E. Grove St. in Reno.
