RENO — On Sunday at 7:39 p.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) was notified of a pursuit initiated by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that was heading east on Interstate 80 near Farad, Calif. CHP reported that the vehicle was a black 2006 Volkswagen four-door hatchback driving at speeds approaching 120 mph. NHP troopers took control of the incident at I-80 eastbound near Robb Drive.

The vehicle left the interstate at West McCarran Boulevard and continued onto Summit Ridge Drive. The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven gas station where NHP troopers arrested the driver.  He was identified as John Terry, 27, of Vallejo, Calif. Terry displayed signs of impairment and was transported to the Washoe County jail where he submitted to a blood test. Terry was booked on attempt to elude police, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
