RENO — Waste Management will hold the third of four residential dump days for 2010 at the Transfer Stations in Reno on Saturday and Sunday.

In an effort to assist residents with household clean-ups and stop illegal dumping, Waste Management will be offering reduced residential rates for municipal solid waste at both transfer stations in Reno this weekend.

In addition, materials commonly associated with illegal dumping will be accepted at no charge. These specific items include eligible household appliances such as freon-free refrigerators, hot water heaters, stoves and dishwashers as well as washers and dryers.

Some bulky waste will also be accepted such as sofas, chairs, mattresses and box springs. Any material that falls outside of these parameters will be accepted at more than 50 percent off the regular gate rate.

The reduced dump rates accompanied by free dumping for specific items during residential dump days is the result of a partnership between Waste Management and Washoe County government to develop a program that helps residents clean up their homes and communities and in turn decrease the amount of illegal dumping in the area.

Electronic waste or recycling will not be accepted at this event and hazardous wastes will not be accepted at any time.

The Reno transfer station is located at 1390 E. Commercial Row and is open Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The transfer station near Stead is located at 13890 Mt. Anderson Road and is open Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information on residential dump days, call Waste Management at 329-8822 or (866) 844-1508 or visit www.wm.com.
