Tribune/Debra Reid - Sparks police recovered their handcuffs along with domestic battery suspect Alfonso Mora, 25, on Thursday. Mora was found hiding under a bed inside a house at 1047 G St. after he had escaped during his arrest earlier in the day.
Alfonso Mora, 25, was taken into custody at 1047 G St. at about 4:40 a.m. after police were called on reports of domestic battery. After he had been handcuffed and before he was placed in the patrol car, Mora ran from police.
At about 1 p.m., a Sparks police officer received a phone call from a neighbor in the area where Mora was arrested. The neighbor said that Mora was seen going over the fence and into the house at 1047 G St. still wearing the handcuffs. Sparks police officers went to the residence and found Mora hiding under a bed in one of the bedrooms.
Mora was taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with domestic battery (second offense) and resisting arrest. He also had an outstanding Sparks municipal warrant for a previous misdemeanor.
Mora has seen the inside of the Washoe County Jail about eight times since 2004, according to a Sparks police report. He has a record of drug possession and sales, possession of stolen property as well as domestic battery.
