GRAEAGLE, Calif. — Get dirty, have fun and become a steward by volunteering with the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship (SBTS). The work the group does would not be possible without the hundreds of volunteers who have contributed their time and passion over the years to the trails. Volunteer opportunities range from building and maintaining trails, helping out at our many special events and office help. Below is a list of just some of the ways to get involved:

SBTS volunteer vacation, July 5-8: Join the SBTS Crew on the Long Lake Trail between the Mount Elwell Trail intersection and the spillway of Long Lake in the Gold Lakes Basin. The work involves heavy trail maintenance and restoration, and the perk is that SBTS provides four days of camping with all food and beverages (even beer) included. Come out for just one day or volunteer for the full four days.

Help prep the Downieville classic race course: There’s serious work to be done to get ready for this nationally recognized event. Anyone interested in helping the crew prep the course is needed from July 5 until just before the event begins on July 9. Volunteers are also needed during the event.

Volunteer work days Monday through Saturday: Head to the hills and help SBTS build trails this summer and fall. Workdays occur at various locations in Plumas and Sierra counties until the snow falls. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome.
