CARSON CITY — Nevada lawmakers have agreed to spend more than $238,000 to pay two federal stimulus fund coordinators, including one in the governor's office and one in the state controller's office.

State budget chief Andrew Clinger conceded before the Legislature Interim Finance Committee action Thursday that the duties will sometimes overlap.

But committee members say making Charles Harvey the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act director in Gov. Jim Gibbons' office and Mary Keating the program coordinator in Controller Kim Wallin's office will ensure compliance with federal regulations.

Gibbons says Harvey agreed to stay on as stimulus director. The governor had said Wednesday that Harvey would leave the job in July to become executive director of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services.

Isn't it ironic that the State of Nevada has to cut jobs to cut the budget yet the Governor spends 238,000 Dollars on two jobs. That is 119,000 dollars each for salaries. I read that Sparks wants to up Taxes for Police Officers to make up for shortages. How about the Governor get his priorities in order.
