RENO — On Wednesday at 12:17 p.m. a man entered the US Bank at 5910 Mae Anne Ave. He revealed a handgun in his waistband and demanded money. The suspect fled the bank after obtaining an undisclosed amount of money.  The suspect is believed to be the same man who robbed the Great Basin Federal Credit Union at 9600 S. McCarran Blvd. at about 10 a.m. on Monday.

The suspect is described as a white, male adult, approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build, brown hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, dark-colored T-shirt with vertical strips, a long sleeved, collared shirt over the top of the T-shirt and dark sunglasses.

After the robbery Wednesday, the suspect was identified as Vaughn McCarty, who is believed to have robbed Great Basin Credit Union US Bank. McCarty was located and interviewed by the FBI and the Reno Police Department and admitted to his involvement in both robberies. The clothing he was wearing during Wednesday’s robbery and additional evidence of the robberies was located on him, in his residence and in his vehicle. The FBI booked McCarty into the Washoe County jail for bank robbery.
