RENO — As construction site safety issues continue to grab national attention, the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors will recognize its most conscientious companies of the past year while presenting the story of how one safety manager dealt with a workplace accident in his family.

The Nevada Chapter will hold its 13th annual Golden Hard Hat Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Paradise Ballroom at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa.

Twenty-six companies, including specialty contractors, suppliers and building and engineering general contractors will be recognized. The event includes the AGC of America Awards, which are based on lost time from accidents versus the number of hours worked in the past year.

The keynote speaker at the luncheon will be Jason Carll, safety manager for Basalite Concrete Products in Sparks. His personal experience with an accident gave him a unique perspective on safety and its impact on a family and community.

June is also National Safety Month and the AGC will also present its prestigious Golden Hard Hat Award. Last year’s winner was Omboli Interiors, Inc.

New this year will be the AGC Safe Site Award recognizing the best project site safety program.

The luncheon is $30 for members and $40 for future members. For tickets, call 329-6116.

The Nevada Chapter of the AGC is located at 5400 Mill St. in Reno. For more information, visit www.nevadaagc.org.
