NDOW sponsors connecting children with wildlife series

RENO — The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) is sponsoring a series of presentations and trail hikes designed for elementary school students and their families. A variety of topics focusing on outdoor fun and local wildlife are planned. Upcoming topics include amazing adaptations, batty bats, fun with field guides, life under river rocks and wild evidence.Each presentation will incorporate projects and games as well as an outdoor portion along the Oxbow Nature Trail to tie it all together.

Classes are designed for children ages 5 to 11 and their families. The series will run through the summer and takes place on the third Saturday of each month.

Event organizers ask that those who attend dress appropriately for the weather and bring a bottle of water. The classes are free to all participants.

The first presentation is Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Oxbow Nature Study Area, 3100 Dickerson Road.Pre-registration is not required to receive the class outline. For more information, call 334-3808 or visit www.ndow.org.
