RENO — The Northern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has announced its 12th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will be run at a new location, Boomtown Reno Casino & Hotel, on Oct. 3. This year’s honorary chair is Evelyn Mount, founder and fundraiser for a long-standing Reno charity focused on feeding the area’s hungry during the holidays.

In Mount’s honor, the Northern Nevada Affiliate is asking all participants to bring a nonperishable food item to contribute to special food barrels at the race.

The Race for the Cure is the Komen Northern Nevada Affiliate’s largest fundraiser and continues to reach people of all ages and walks of life with its message of hope and awareness. Since 1998, the Komen Northern Nevada Race for the Cure has raised more than $2.5 million, making tremendous improvements in the breast health of the northern Nevada community.
