RENO — Help make one of the Reno-Tahoe region’s largest community events a success by volunteering at the PGA Tour’s 2010 Reno-Tahoe Open. Help an organization that’s known for helping others in the community while getting up close and personal with some of the best golfers in the world at one of the area’s most beautiful golf courses, Montrêux Golf & Country Club, July 12 through 18. Hundreds of positions are now available including transportation coordinators, Shotlink laser operators and score keepers. Interested volunteers are encouraged to register now online at www.RenoTahoeOpen.com.

Round up a group of friends or co-workers or sign the kids up for a day on the course this summer and in return gain full access to the seven-day tournament, an invitation to the annual volunteer party, a tournament polo shirt, complimentary food and beverage options during each shift and benefits around town including discounts and specials through local merchants and organizations.

“Volunteers, many of whom return year after year, are key to our ability to produce a successful PGA event each summer,” said Jana Smoley, Reno-Tahoe Open executive director. “Volunteering at the Reno-Tahoe Open is a great way to get involved in helping the nonprofits in our community, and serves as a great opportunity to get up close and personal with the world of professional golf. Hundreds of volunteer positions are available this year, with some new opportunities as well, for those who haven’t been involved with the tournament before.”

Volunteer applications are now available at www.RenoTahoeOpen.com and the $50 cost includes the required uniform. As part of the package, participants also receive an exclusive invitation to the annual volunteer party at Montrêux Golf & Country Club as a thank you for the donated time and effort.

Volunteers must be 16 years old by July 11 to participate.
