The new program, Brown Bag Business Hour, will be held the fourth Thursday of each month from 11:45 a.m to 1 p.m. in the Reno City Council Chambers at Reno City Hall, first floor, 1 E. First St. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch and learn from community experts on subjects that affect and influence how they do business.
The pilot program begins Thursday with presenter Alice Heiman, owner and president of Alice Heiman, LLC. Heiman is a local business owner with in-depth knowledge on bottom-line sales through best practices in effective networking.
“The NSBDC has a long-standing partnership with the city of Reno,” said Sam Males, NSBDC state director. “We recognize the difficulty the economic environment is for businesses in our region. We will do anything we can to support the city in their efforts to enhance our community’s economy starting with small-business education and counseling.”
The ongoing sessions will address issues related to financial management, customer service, marketing, market research, legal structure, professionalism in the workplace, social media and small-business resources.
In addition to the one-hour monthly program, the NSBDC will be providing scholarship opportunities to attendees on its extensive training programs such as NxLeveL for Entrepreneurs, its 13-week cornerstone business development program and its Financial Management Course, an intense 14-hour training class that helps small-business owners look at understanding the cash flows, fixed and variable costs, break-even sales and volume levels, finding financing, managing growth, “Do’s” and “Don’ts” when dealing with your banker, and much more.
These monthly programs are free of charge but class seating is limited and registration is required.
