GABBS, Nev. –– On Sunday at about 8:10 a.m., troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol-Northern Command were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on State Route 361 in Mineral County near mile marker 17, or near midway between Gabbs and the intersection of US 95.
Debra A. Brown, 29 of Gabbs, was traveling south on the two-lane highway when her vehicle drifted off the right roadway edge. She over-corrected the steering to the left of the 2006 silver Chevrolet Malibu four-door sedan she was driving and subsequently lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle continued across both lanes of the highway before rolling over where it came to rest on its roof east of the highway. No other vehicles were involved.
Brown was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin were notified sometime later that morning.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team will be investigating the accident and witnesses to the event should contact Trooper Robert Haigney at 689-4623 or the Department of Public Safety Communications Center at 687-0400 regarding case No. NHP-1004100256.
