River Festival seeks ‘Humans in Motion’ for film contest

RENO — Get out the video cameras and spring into action for the Reno River Festival’s first-ever short video contest, Humans in Motion. Short videos, three to five minutes, are being accepted through April 26 for a shot at the $1,000 grand prize awarded at 6 p.m. May 7 during the Reno River Festival.

Entries are accepted on DVD by mail and will be uploaded to for viewing. The top 20 entries will be posted by April 28 for a public vote.

Show off extreme sport skills, go slo-mo or grab some friends and run wild, just make sure it involves at least one human in non-motorized motion. To qualify, entries must be submitted to the Reno River Festival for prior review and judging based on creativity, humor, originality and relevancy to the Humans in Motion contest theme. After public voting of the top 20, the five most popular videos will be screened in Wingfield Park at 6 p.m. on May 7 and the top three winners awarded. The top 20 videos are then able to be viewed again during the River Festival’s official kick-off party at Imperial Bar and Lounge starting at 7 p.m.

To participate, entrants must complete an online registration form and mail or deliver DVD submissions by 11:59 p.m. April 26 to: Reno River Festival, Attn: Humans in Motion, 1510 Lander St., Reno, NV 89509.
