RENO — The Nevada Highway Patrol says a truck driver who allegedly refused to sign a citation Friday morning on Interstate 80 proceeded to walk into traffic and was hit by a slow-moving vehicle.

The highway patrol says the injuries to the Canadian trucker weren't life threatening. NHP Trooper Chuck Allen says the man was treated before being booked into the Washoe County Jail.

A trooper had stopped the driver for making an unsafe lane change and for failing to obey a traffic control device. After the trooper filled out the citation he gave it to the driver, who allegedly refused to sign the ticket, then turned away and walked into lanes on I-80. The trooper yelled at him to stop and seconds later the driver of a Hyundai sedan hit the man.

The driver was booked on suspicion of several misdemeanor charges.
