CARSON CITY — A pickup truck collided with a Subaru Forester just west of Spooner Summit Sunday afternoon, sending several drivers and passengers to the hospital where they are now in critical condition.

At about 2:45 p.m., troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 50 at the junction with State Route 28. They found that the driver of a green 2001 Subaru Forester, 18-year-old Rochelle Weir-Ford of Nevada City, Calif., traveled through the stop sign on SR 28 into the path of a westbound vehicle traveling on US 50. That vehicle, a 1986 Ford F-250 pickup, was driven by 63-year-old Thomas P. Regan of South Lake Tahoe, Calif. The front of Regan’s truck hit the left side of the Subaru, sending one car onto the shoulder and the truck into the middle of the road.

Weir-Ford and her passenger, 18-year-old Daniel Smith, were both airlifted from the scene by Care Flight and taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

Regan was taken by ground ambulance to Carson Tahoe Hospital for claimed injuries only.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and all occupants were wearing their seat belts.

Anyone with information regarding this event should contact Trooper Randy Brown at the NHP Carson City substation office at 684-7380 regarding case No. NHP-1003140633.
