CARSON CITY – The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) on Friday issued the first of two required permits to Jungo Land & Investments, Inc. for development of a new landfill in Humboldt County.

After a thorough analysis, a public hearing process and after considering numerous written comments from the interested public, NDEP has found the proposed project meets all applicable state and federal air quality standards and requirements. Therefore, NDEP is required under federal and state law to issue the air permit. The air permit outlines guidelines and requirements that NDEP will follow in assuring compliance with operating standards for the protection of public health and the environment.

The issuance of the air permit does not allow construction to commence as this project must still be reviewed and permitted by NDEP’s Bureau of Waste Management. For further information on this project, including permit application, NDEP review and project status, visit http://ndep.nv.gov/bwm/jungo.htm.
