RENO — March is Youth Art Month and the Nevada Museum of Art is celebrating in true style with an exhibition of the winning works of the Scholastic Art Awards of 2010 – featuring artwork by middle and high school students from across northern Nevada. A teen-focused film screening takes place on March 18, with a special Teen Art Night on March 26 and other events planned for teens by teens.

Featured exhibits and events include:

• The Scholastic Art Awards of 2010 from March 6 to April 3. The museum presents an exhibition of artwork created by northern Nevada middle and high school students as part of The Scholastic Art Awards of 2010, a national program established 86 years ago to recognize and reward impressive talent among students. Serving 13 counties in northern Nevada, the program invites students to compete for awards and scholarships.  The exhibition is sponsored by US Bank. Scholarships are provided by US Bank and the Wild Women Artists.

• On March 18 at 6 p.m., explore one student’s personal journey to find inspiration in the film “Nobody,” presented by the Nevada Museum of Art Teen Art Council. A quirky comedy of discovery, “Nobody” is written by Rob Perez of “40 Days and 40 Nights.” The film is rated PG-13. Admission is $5.

• Teen Art Night on March 26 from 7 to 10 p.m. The Nevada Museum of Art Teen Art Council and the Holland Project will host the second annual Teen Art Night.  Teens are invited to enjoy an evening of art, music and film in an event planned for teens by teens.  Cost is $5.

The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays. The museum is closed Mondays, Tuesdays and national holidays.  Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors/students, $1 for kids ages 6 to 12 and free for kids 5 and younger and for museum members.  For more information, call 329-3333 or visit www.nevadaart.org.
