PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — A Nye County sheriff's investigator says a 62-year-old Pahrump foster father is facing charges that he sexually assaulted a child in his care.

Sheriff's Detective David Boruchowitz (buh-ROOK'-uh-witz) said Tuesday that John Bivens was arrested Feb. 17 and later released on bail pending a court appearance on felony charges of sexual assault on a child under 14 and lewdness with a child under 14.

Boruchowitz says the state Division of Child and Family Services removed children in Bivens’ care and placed them elsewhere.

Bivens is due to appear in Pahrump Justice Court at a later date.
