SALT LAKE CITY — A winter storm is walloping much of Nevada and southern Utah.

The National Weather Service issued a special warning for the Zion National Park region.

It was expected to get several inches of snow Sunday at low elevations, making for slippery driving.

The Nevada Department of Transportation says chains or snow tires are required on many highways.

Snow was falling heavily in northern Nevada. Around Carson City mountains were expected to get a foot of snow.
