Leon F. Talbot, 69, died February 10, 2010 at his home in Greenleaf.

A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m., Feb. 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf.

A Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m., February 18 at the church.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Leon was born January 18, 1941, at Greenleaf, to LeRoy and Matilda (Wurtz) Talbot. He graduated from Greenleaf High School in 1959, attended Victoria Seminary and Elk Horn State. Leon served in the U.S. Army as a MP. He worked Maintenance of Way for the Union Pacific Railroad and did mining in Colorado. He was a trouble shooter for the Water Department for Sierra Pacific Power in Nevada.

He loved to visit, travel and attend family reunions. He volunteered in the community, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Leon was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he sang in the church choir, was a Sacristan and would lead the rosary.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, LeRoy “Gene” and Robert.

Survivors include his mother, Matilda of Linn; brothers, Jerry and wife Wanda of Endicott, NE, James and wife Marguerite of Sedalia, MO, Raymond and wife Sheri of Wichita; and sisters, Yvonne Talbot of Linn, Marilyn Brungardt and husband Alvin of Washington, Kathleen Wilkes and husband William of Altus, OK, Laura Asp and husband Robert of Wichita Falls, TX and Margaret Talbot of University, MS.

A memorial fund has been established to the church. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, 115 W. 2nd, Washington, KS 66968.
