The Conference is designed to bring together members of the university campus and the community to initiate dialogue about leadership, inclusiveness, service and citizenship. An award-winning violinist will serve as the keynote speaker for The Conference.
“We are striving to develop strong leaders for a global community in a local setting,” said ASUN Vice President Charlie Jose. “Our emphasis is that leadership is not just about the title of a position, it is about the results that you can achieve together while working toward great goals.”
Students, faculty and staff from across the university took part in planning The Conference. It is free to University students and is $5 for university faculty, staff and students of Truckee Meadows Community College.
The Conference will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday on the fourth floor of the Joe Crowley Student Union.
Swil Kanim, a Native American Violinist is the keynote speaker for The Conference 2010.
Kanim is a world-class virtuoso violinist who has won many awards ranging from the West Coast American Indian Music Award, the Traditional Instrument Award and the Classic Award among others. For more information about Kanim, please visit www.swilkanim.net/index.html.
