LAS VEGAS –– Wells Fargo and Co. announced this week it will provide grants totaling $60,000 to five Nevada nonprofit organizations as part of Wells Fargo and Wachovia’s integration activities.

Based on voting by Wachovia customers and team members, the grants are part of a broader 2010 integration-related charitable effort to provide more than $1 million to organizations serving people in need.

The donations mark a Wells Fargo-Wachovia integration milestone. Wachovia’s financial centers in Nevada will become Wells Fargo banking stores in March. Nevada is one of the first community banking states where the Wells Fargo name will be rolled out to Wachovia financial centers.

In December 2009, Wachovia customers and team members in Nevada received ballots by mail, asking them to vote for their top choice from five nonprofits. The voting ended Jan. 4. Recipient nonprofit organizations and the amount of the grants are:

The Three Square Food Bank received $25,000; the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, both Las Vegas and Northern Nevada chapters received $15,000; the Habitat for Humanity, both Las Vegas, Inc. and Truckee Meadows chapters received $10,000; the United Way Northern Nevada and the Sierra and Southern Nevada chapters received $5,000; the Junior Achievement of Northern and Southern Nevada chapters received $5,000.
