RENO – Nine companies out of 49 finalists can credit stellar employee survey results for their success as they were announced winners in the inaugural “Greater Reno-Tahoe Best Places to Work” awards today. Three companies received honors in each category: small, medium and large employer, at the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada’s Annual Luncheon and 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Small company winners

(15 to 50 employees) — First: Hire Dynamics. Second: Applied Staffing Solutions, LLC. Third: Pro Group Management

Medium company

winners

(51 to 150 employees) — First: Classic Residence by Hyatt in Reno. Second: Grant Thornton LLP. Third: Server Technology

Large company

winners

(151 or more

employees) — First: Microsoft Licensing, GP. Second: Greater Nevada Credit Union. Third: Intuit, Inc.

The nine company winners were determined solely on overall scores from employee satisfaction surveys. The anonymous employee surveys focused on 10 criteria of a satisfying working environment including: team effectiveness, trust with coworkers, manager effectiveness, feeling valued and people practices, among others. Quantum Market Research, a contracted specialist in measuring workplace satisfaction, administered the “Best Places to Work” awards program through the use of their proprietary survey methodology and software.

“What makes the ‘Best Places to Work’ awards unique is that winners are determined strictly based on the collective feedback of employees – not the subjective opinion of a group of experts,” said Greg Harris, president of Quantum Market Research.

This first year, 126 companies were nominated. The nomination process was open to all companies in the Greater Reno-Tahoe region with 15 or more full-time employees. Nominated companies were sent confidential online surveys to be completed by employees and returned on deadline with a certain percentage of employee participation required based on company size. A diverse group of 49 employers were determined finalists based on the employee surveys.

The co-sponsors are currently planning an awards program for 2009. For more information on the “Greater Reno-Tahoe Best Places to Work” awards visit www.edawn.org/about-edawn/best-places-to-work or contact Gail Conkey at 829-3720.
