VERDI –– The Nevada Department of Wildlife is sponsoring a series of presentations and trail hikes designed for elementary students and their families.

A variety of topics focusing on outdoor fun and local wildlife are planned. The first is “Winter Wildlife Survival” Saturday. Future topics include tracks, scat and other evidence and habitats. Each presentation will incorporate projects and games as well as an outdoor portion along the Verdi Nature Trail to tie it all together. Participants should be dressed appropriately for the weather. The classes are free to all participants and run from 1 to 3 p.m.

Classes will be held at the Verdi Community Library and Wildlife Education Center, 270 Bridge St. Pre-registration is not required to receive the class outline. For more information, call the Department of Wildlife at 334-3808.
