SPARKS - A Sparks man is under arrest after he allegedly shot a Spanish Springs resident’s dog Monday afternoon.

Marion Leonard Rogalla, 70, was driving along Encanto Street in Spanish Springs when three dogs ran out of a yard and chased Rogalla’s truck.

One dog, Jasper, a black and white mixed breed, was running near Rogalla’s driver’s side door. He then pulled out a handgun and shot the dog.  Jasper fell and the other dogs returned home.

The homeowner’s teenage sons witnessed the incident and ran to assist the dog. The homeowner followed the suspect in his vehicle and called 911.

Deputies stopped Rogalla on La Mancha Street and claimed that the man was uncooperative and intoxicated.

Rogalla had allegedly been filling potholes in the street with dirt from his truck that afternoon.

Rogalla was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, discharging a firearm from within a vehicle and killing another person's animal.  His bail is set at $11,580.
