It took 12 brutal rounds, but hometown hero Jesse Brinkley successfully defended his WBC USNBC Super Middleweight title against Curtis "Showtime" Stevens on Friday night at the Grand Sierra Resort.

Feeding off chants of "Jesse! Jesse!", Brinkley won a unanimous decision after brutalizing Stevens in the final minutes of the last round.

Brinkley had black eyes after just two rounds and both men took punishing beatings in nearly every round before a packed house and a nationwide audience on ESPN's "Friday Night Fights." Despite much more professional experience, Brinkley entered the fight a slight underdog. Nonetheless, he improved his record to 35-5 while Stevens dropped to 21-3.

Judges scored the fight 117-109, 118-108 and 119-107. Brinkley knocked Stevens down twice, once in the sixth and once in the twelfth.
