In Saturday's High Desert League Aqua 5, swimmers from Reno, Carson, Galena, Spanish Springs and McQueen participated in a swimming pentathlon.

Each swimmer tried to achieve their fastest times in the 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and the 50 freestyle.

In the end, Kirdy Franco of Spanish Springs beat out the rest of the girl swimmers by at least 10 seconds despite only winning the 100 butterfly.

Sarah McCorkle, also from Spanish Springs, placed third overall.

On the boys' side, Justin Reed was the top finisher for the Cougars. He earned third place, while teammate Alex Paul was fifth.
