Head-on collision in Douglas County

GARDNERVILLE –– On Wednesday at about 10:40 p.m., troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a head-on collision involving two vehicles near Centerville Road and Waterloo Lane in Douglas County.

The drivers involved in the crash were Jeanette Smith, 52, who was driving a 2004 white Chrysler van and Christopher Pilling, 23, who was driving a white Ford Mustang.

Pilling had a passenger in his vehicle, 23-year-old Nigel G. Ingersoll. All three involved in the accident are from Gardnerville.

Smith had to be extricated from her vehicle and was initially transported to Carson Tahoe hospital by ground ambulance before being flown to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight for very serious injuries.

Pilling and Ingersoll were both transported to Carson Tahoe Hospital by ground ambulance as their injuries were not as serious. All three people were wearing seat belts.

The accident had the roadway blocked for about three hours.
