Spanish Springs dug itself a hole in the second quarter after it had taken a 10-7 lead in the first quarter following an 8-0 run, capped by an Ari James layup.
However, Livermore answered back with the final five points of the first period and then put up 19 in the second eight minutes to enjoy a 31-21 lead at halftime.
The Cougars proceeded to record the first 12 points of the second half, reclaiming the lead at 33-31. A Jackie Moore layup made it 35-33 in favor of the Purple and Teal, but that was the last time the local squad led.
Livermore opened the fourth quarter with back-to-back treys and never trailed again.
Kaylie Humphreys had a solid all-around performance for the SSHS cagers, finishing with 10 points, six rebounds and four steals. James had nine points and nine rebounds.
Eleven offensive boards helped the Cougars win the battle on the glass, 35-27, but it was still not good enough to avoid dropping to 8-6 on the season.
Spanish Springs concludes its play at the Folsom tourney with a 6 p.m. clash with Mira Loma today.
•The Spanish Springs boys ended their trip to the MaxPreps Classic in Torrey Pines with its third straight loss, dropping a 57-48 decision to Pacific Hill.
The 48 points was the most scored by Spanish Springs since pouring in 76 in its tourney opening win.
The loss leaves the Cougars at 6-8 overall.
