RENO – On Sunday, at about 6 a.m., the Reno Police Department received a call from a motorist who said several gunshots had been fired at him and his vehicle by the driver and passenger of another vehicle in the area of Plumb Lane and U.S. 395.

The caller was following the suspect vehicle.  In the area of El Rancho Drive and Oddie Boulevard, just as officers located the vehicles, the caller intentionally rammed the suspect’s vehicle with his own, resulting in a crash and disabling the suspect vehicle.  The suspects attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended by officers.

Investigation revealed the involved parties were acquaintances and the exact motive for the shooting is still under investigation.  A stolen firearm was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.  There were no injuries from the gunfire.

The two alleged shooters were arrested at the scene. Jerred Callaway, 18, of Reno, was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, obstructing and resisting officers, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance (Heroin) and possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce). Callaway’s bail was set at $15,082.

Anthony Palmer, 34, of Sparks, was also arrested on similar charges; however, he was also charged with reckless driving. His bail is set at $15,192.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Reno Police Department at 334-COPS or remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at 322-4900.
