SPARKS - A woman was extricated from her car during the Friday morning commute in Sparks after a three car accident on South Rock Boulevard. According to Sparks firefighters, the woman lived.

According to Sparks firefighters who arrived on scene, two of the cars looked like they were involved in a head-on collision, possibly after sliding on some ice or snow.

Firefighters had to remove the woman from her SUV by taking off the driver’s side door, after which she was taken to a local hospital by REMSA.

The accident caused the northbound lanes of Rock Boulevard to be closed from the Mill Street intersection for approximately 30 minutes. Southbound travel was reduced to one lane for this time frame also.

The accident happened a little before 9:30 a.m.
