RENO — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) sold 15 parcels comprising 24,575 acres during its quarterly oil and gas competitive lease sale on Tuesday, which brought in $92,453. Of the total sale receipt amount, $53,411 is bonus bid revenue which is split 50/50 between the state and the U.S. Treasury.

The BLM offered 44 parcels encompassing 78,307 acres. The highest bid parcel sold for $5 per acre and is located in Nye County. The leases are for a period of 10 years with annual rentals of $1.50 per acre for the first five years and $2 an acre after that until production begins.

Once a lease is producing, a royalty of 12.5 percent is charged.

The BLM received $3,838 in bonus bids in the September quarterly competitive sale with two parcels sold. Each parcel received a $2 per acre bid and both parcels are in Nye County.

A complete listing of the parcels offered and the winning bidders is available at www.blm.gov/nv/. The next sale is scheduled for March 9, 2010.
