SPARKS - The Sparks Pop Warner Pee Wee Wolfpack football team is on its way to the “ESPN Wide World of Sports” center at Disney World, Fla., to take on the few remaining teams from around the country as they battle for the title of National Champion. However, the group of 11 and 12 year old boys must pay their own way, at a price of $1,500 per player.

The team is asking for donations to get the 32 boys on a plane and into the championship arena. The deadline for donations is Wednesday.

“The travel to Florida means a lot of extra expenses for our families which, like many, are experiencing tough times,” said head coach Paul Bright in a news release. “Each team member is responsible for their own expenses including air fare, hotel rooms, food, travel, etc.”

Last Saturday, the Pee Wee Wolfpack defeated the West Bay Rams 20-0 for the 2009 Regional Championships, sending them to the national competition.

Donations are tax deductable and can be made by calling Bright at 772-9099. The team’s tax-exempt identification number is 88-0246140. Donations can be made payable to - Sparks Pop Warner / Sparks PW Wolfpack Football.

“The Pee Wee Sparks Wolfpack are part of the Pop Warner Football League in the Reno/Sparks area,” Bright said. “As coaches and parents we are proud to be able to dedicate and volunteer our time to these enthusiastic players.”
