SPARKS —Assistant City Manager Stephen W. Driscoll was recently awarded the University of Phoenix, Northern Nevada Campus, Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs’ Student Leadership Award for Graduate Programs in the John Sperling School of Business. This award recognizes leadership and academic excellence and celebrates the contributions of business students who represent the very best attributes and accomplishments of the entire student body.

The process begins with a nomination from a faculty member, staff or fellow student and culminates with a formal interview by the review and selection committee.

Sparks Mayor Geno Martini was on hand to present Driscoll the award at a campus celebration on Nov. 19.

“On behalf of the City of Sparks, I want to congratulate Steve Driscoll for his hard work and achievement in his career endeavors that have benefitted the city,” Martini said. “Mr. Driscoll is undoubtedly a dedicated public servant who is committed to improving the services of local government for our residents.”

Driscoll received his bachelor's degree with a concentration in accounting from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1978 and a Master's of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix, Northern Nevada Campus earlier this year.  Since 1996, Driscoll has been recognized by the Association of Government Accountants as a Certified Government Financial Manager.
