SPARKS – M and M Towing, with the assistance of Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, donated a commercial electronic van lift used to lift wheelchairs into vehicles to the Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living in Sparks (NNCIL).

M and M Towing owner Mark Dingley acquired a new transport shuttle bus that had been in a collision. While the bus was inoperable, the lift attached to it was brand new, undamaged and in good working order.

Washoe County Sheriff Sgt. Lou Gazes with the Regional Bomb Squad was working with M and M Towing to acquire damaged vehicles to use in training when he was approached by Dingley about donating the van lift to an organization that could use it. Gazes arranged the lift to be donated to the NNCIL.

The NNCIL, located at 999 Pyramid Way in Sparks, was established in 1982 to serve individuals with disabilities in our community. NNCIL helps any need, whether it is transportation, residency, employment or advocacy. Coincidently, its transport van had been inoperable due to a broken lift and the donation of this equipment, valued at approximately $7,500, enables the center to replace the lift and resume transportation assistance to wheelchair bound residents.
