VIRGINIA CITY — Historic Virginia City will hold its traditional Christmas on the Comstock Parade of Lights at 5 p.m. on Dec. 5.

Storey County School Superintendent Rob Slaby will serve as grand marshal for the parade, leading the children of Hugh Gallagher Elementary School and other entries down C Street.

The parade will begin at 5 p.m., with registration and lineup beginning at 4 p.m., at the Historic Fourth Ward School at the south end of town.

The parade, which is the kickoff to Virginia City’s annual month-long Christmas on the Comstock festival, will feature many floats lit up for the season. Also expected are the Dayton High School marching band and color guard, the Wooster High School JROTC, lighted floats, car clubs and the Wild Ass Women, a group of ladies who work on wild burro rescues and, of course, Santa Claus.

Certificates will be awarded to the best entries and late entries are welcome.
