LAS VEGAS — From Nov. 19-22, members of the Nevada State Elks Association will gather in Las Vegas at the North Las Vegas Elks Lodge No. 2353 for the state Elks Association’s mid-term convention. James L. Nichelson, the national president of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, will meet and congratulate Nevada State Elks on their many successful charitable and patriotic accomplishments in Nevada communities.

Among the many highlights of the convention will be a special dinner Saturday evening honoring Nichelson and his first lady, Mary Carolyn. Saturday afternoon there will be a fund-raising luncheon and auction for the state’s major project, Safe Haven, which offers emergency shelter and care for abused and neglected children. Last year, the Nevada Elks generated more than $60,000 for this project. All monies donated go directly to support the Safe Haven homes that are called upon to care for the abused and neglected children that are removed from harm's way.
