RENO — On Veterans Day, the Intuit Foundation presented a check for $10,000 to the Veterans Guest House.

The guest house, located at 880 Locust St., provides temporary housing for the families of veterans receiving treatment at the local medical facilities. Brian Kilroy from Intuit presented the donation to the Veterans Guest House board vice president Rick Shuster. The Intuit Foundation awards grants to U.S. nonprofit organizations.

Also on Wednesday, people gathered on the lawn of the Veterans Guest House as part of a nationwide, simultaneous balloon release to honor those affected by Agent Orange exposure.

Today starting at 6 p.m., the Veterans Guest House will be holding a USO-themed party at the Automobile Museum in downtown Reno. The event is the culmination of the fall fundraising campaign.

For more information or to buy tickets to the event, contact the Veterans Guest House at 324-6958 or visit www.veteransguesthouse.com.
