CARSON CITY — Following declining traffic fatalities, Nevada has received a national traffic safety award, the Nevada departments of Transportation and Public Safety and other partners announced Tuesday.

Nevada received the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ (AASHTO) 2009 Safety Leadership Award for programs that helped decrease Nevada traffic deaths by one quarter, saving more than 100 lives since 2006.
