Two men have been arrested in connection with a convenience store robbery that took place in July.

George Ray Ropati, 26, of Sparks, and Marc Russell Trusty, 23, of Reno, were each arrested for robbery with the use of a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery. Ropati has been charged with attempted murder and Trusty with battery with a deadly weapon.

On July 19, Sparks Police detectives investigated a robbery and shooting at Paul’s Market at 1550 Vance Way. The victims/owners of the store were working inside when two males entered the store and demanded money. One of the suspects produced a knife while the other suspect went behind the counter to try and access the cash drawer. The victims, brothers Amrik and Rachpal Singh, attempted to fight back while they were being robbed. Rachpal was stabbed during the struggle with one of the suspects. While Rachpal was fighting with one of the suspects, Amrik came out from the rear of the store when he heard the fight. At that time, the other suspect jumped the counter and produced a handgun and shot Amrik in the abdomen and continued trying to shoot Amrik as both suspects fled from the store.

After a lengthy investigation, Sparks detectives arrested Ropati and Trusty.

This investigation is on going. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sparks Police Department at 353-2225 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
