RENO — PetFolio Magazine is accepting submissions for its Oh My Dog! contest, the publication’s biggest contest of the year. The winning submission will feature the pet with the most unique trick, act of heroism or hilarious habit. The family and pet with the winning entry will receive a professional photo shoot, centerfold article and full cover of the February/March 2010 issue of PetFolio Magazine.

“The contest and cover story aims to highlight how quirky and full of personality animals can be,” said Michelle McHardy, managing editor of PetFolio Magazine. “PetFolio is constantly focused on animals in our community and this is our most high-profile way of showcasing a pet that really stands out.”

“It’s also a great way to get kids and pets involved with a fun family activity,” added Landess Witmer, executive editor of PetFolio Magazine. “Our Oh My Dog! contest is not only a form of entertainment but it often gets the younger generation interested in photography and reporting. It’s up to them to capture what they love about their pets, and relay the information to our editor in a fun and interesting way. And when it comes to giving kids a sense of accomplishment, there’s no equivalent to seeing their story go to print.”

All ages of pet owners may submit entries. Submissions must be 300 words or less and may be accompanied by up to three photos. PetFolio Magazine will accept electronic submissions sent to michelle@petfoliomagazine.com or mailed-in submissions sent to P.O. Box 8997, Reno, NV 89507. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 15.
